For those of you old enough to remember the cult film classic by the same name, you’ll recall that it brought together 5 stereotyped students in Saturday detention. At the end of the day, the moral of the story was these five students had a lot more in common than they ever imagined.  The goal of our “breakfast club” is not to put you in detention, but to put you in control of your federal benefits, your planning, and ultimately … your retirement. Please join us for a fast-paced agenda on an assortment of topics that will leave you full of confidence about your future.

OPM has issued the final regulations on Phased Retirement, which allows full-time employees to work part-time schedules while beginning to draw retirement benefits.  Employees who are eligible for Phased Retirement and want to continue working on a part-time basis may do so with the agreement of their agencies.  During Phased Retirement, an employee will receive a partial annuity and will keep accruing additional service credit toward their final annuity.  The employee will also spend 20 percent of his time in mentoring activities to facilitate the transfer of their knowledge and skills to other employees within the agency. Each agency will have the flexibility to implement the mentoring component in a way that is best for the agency and employees.

 POLICIES

• Advance registration is required for all classes. WALK-INS are not allowed.
• Agencies are required to provide and make advance arrangements for special needs requests such as hearing interpreters.
